BREAKING: HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE PASSES BILL THAT WOULD GUT STATE GUN LAWS! Call Congress now at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to VOTE NO on H.R.38 and REJECT CONCEALED CARRY RECIPROCITY!
Call Congress now at (202) 224-3121 and tell them NO on #HR38 and tell them to REJECT CONCEALED CARRY RECIPROCITY! H.R. 38, or "Concealed carry Reciprocity Act of 2017" is a dangerous gun bill that would force each state to accept the concealed carry standards of all other states. Under H.R. 38, a person denied a permit in his home state - e.g. after a criminal conviction - could simply get an out-of-state permit, and carry back at home. This bill would also make it terrifyingly easy for abusers to legally carry concealed firearms into other states when stalking their victims.
"Concealed carry reciprocity (CCR)" is a complicated name for a law that would make it simple for abusers to threaten and harass -- and kill -- their intimate partners with firearms. Survivors often relocate to other states to escape their abusers, but H.R. 38 would force every state to accept other states' concealed carry permits, even if the out-of-state permit was issued to a domestic abusers who would be prohibited from obtaining such a permit in the travel state. This is a clear violation of the Constitution's recognition of states' rights, and it is dangerous for victims of #DomesticViolence.
Call Congress at 202-224-3121 to urge your Senators and House Representatives to finish the job on the background check law to keep guns away from dangerous people. Or text ENOUGH to 877-877 and be connected with a Senator to close the terror gap.
