SUCCESS! Day by Day...
STAMFORD, CT - Mayor David Martin today joined Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the national bipartisan coalition of mayors across the United States fighting for common-sense gun laws that will save lives by keeping illegal guns out of dangerous hands. The Mayor was joined by representatives from Mayors Against Illegal Guns, The ENOUGH Campaign, Newtown Action Alliance, Brady Campaign, Moms Demand Action, Connecticut Against Gun Violence, and Women on Watch.
The Enough Campaign co-organized Wednesday's event.
“Gun violence shakes the foundation of our community. It tears apart families and paralyzes our neighborhoods. It cannot be tolerated,” Martin said. “I stand here today to communicate a simple message: It is time to end gun violence. Enough is enough.”
Erica Lafferty, whose mother, Dawn Hochsprung, was killed in the 2012 mass shooting in Newtown, spoke Wednesday on behalf of Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Hochsprung was the principal of Sandy Hook Elementary School and one of the first people killed when the gunman entered the building.
"I have seen gun violence tear apart families, tear apart schools, tear apart communities," Lafferty said. "My mom died in the front hall of her school trying to protect the staff and students she so dearly loved."

There ARE Responsible Solutions to Gun Violence.
The ENOUGH Campaign supports the mission of Americans for Responsible Solutions. We recently attended a fundraiser for the gun reform organization, where we met Gabby Giffords and heard her speak along with Pia Carusone, the Executive Director of ARS.
Ms. Carusone explained to attendees that ARS’ long-term existence in the fight against gun violence is not just to pass the background checks bill: it’s to create an environment where people can talk about gun issues in a more sensible way. “[People] can be gun owners and think that there are things we can do to make our community safer.”
“The last few years have been hard: Stopping gun violence takes courage to do what’s right and new ideas: Be bold, be courageous, the nation is counting on you,” said gun violence survivor and former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
Americans for Responsible Solutions was created by Ms. Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly to encourage elected officials to stand up for both the Second Amendment and safer communities by communicating directly with the constituents that elect them. During the event, Ms. Carusone emphasized the importance of raising funds to support initiatives like the ARS to level the playing field. The organization made headlines when it raised $12.5 million last year, beating out all other super PACs in the country for the 2nd quarter in a row. It is possible that the NRA has met its fundraising match.
Through the ARS mission, Giffords and Kelly call on leaders across the country to give a voice to Americans who are demanding responsible solutions to the grave issue of gun violence. Because of her history as a moderate and a gun owner herself, Ms. Giffords lends an important "third voice" to the gun reform debate. The ENOUGH Campaign believes that it is the moderate, third voice that will first bridge the gap between pro-gun activists and anti-gun violence reformists.
ENOUGH: Giffords' Book Release
The ENOUGH Campaign is also excited to announce that Gabby Giffords, in collaboration with Mark Kelly, will be releasing a new book in June, appropriately titled, Enough: Our Fight to Keep America Safe from Gun Violence. The title alone echoes the sentiments of our organization, in addition to the thousands of Americans across the country, as well as President Obama, who, in the days following the Newtown tragedy, succinctly exclaimed, "Enough!"
We stand with Gabby Giffords for responsible solutions to gun violence.
Stop the most extreme gun bill in America.
The Americans for Responsible Solutions latest fight for gun reform manifests itself in the video below.
Georgia lawmakers are considering a bill that would allow guns in churches, bars, airports, courthouses and even schools.
Watch the ad and tell Governor Deal to stop the "Guns Everywhere" bill. Governor Deal can be reached at 404-900-7701. Don't let Georgia set a precedent! Spread the word.

We Couldn't Stop Laughing at This Next One, Though:
But the underlying message is poignant. We hope that gun owners will make better choices than the ones in this video.
The video was created by an organization called Evolve. They aim to be a "third voice" in the gun reform movement. Visit them athttp://www.takeonthecode.com/ .
